Iran claims colorful medals at Asian Taekwondo Championships
Tehran (Pa Alam) – Zahra Pouresmaeil and Akram Khodabandeh claimed gold medals on Sunday on the third day of the Asian Taekwondo Championships in South Korea.
Zahra Pouresmaeil in the -73 weight category managed to defeat her rival from Uzbekistan. In addition, Akram Khodabandeh is another Iranian athlete in the +73 weight category who could beat her rival from China to get the gold medal.
Also, Ali-Reza Nadalian could receive the silver medal. He lost the combat to his Chinese rival in the final.
So far, the gold medalists of Iran are Nahid Kiani, Zahra Pouresmaeil, and Akram Khodabandeh; the silver medalists include Mir-Hashem Hosseini, Mehdi Haj Mousaei, Mobina Ne’matzadeh, Nastaran Valizadeh, and Ali-Reza Nadalian; and the bronze medalists include Zahra Sheydaei and Danial Bozorgi.
The 25th Asian Taekwondo Championships kicked off in Hoban Gym in Chuncheon, northeast Korea, on June 23 for four days with participation of 299 athletes from 34 countries.
